18 hp Briggs V-Tiwn
« on: July 17, 2006, 04:19:42 pm »
I picked up a 18 hp Briggs engine Model # 407777, Type 0128, Code 980611YG, for a BP build in the future. Will this be a good engin? The man said it was running when he took it off of the old "Whites" mower. He charged me $20.00 bucks for it. Was this a decent price? I have never had any dealings with V-Twins. Thanks for all inputs.

I will post a picture as soon as I can.

Well it is an INTEK motor, sure you can make a good BP motor out of it. Precision 265 lift cam, shave the heads and good port work, Vanguard carb, dual valve springs, lighten and swirl polish the valves. ARC rods, billet flywheel, and the denso starter and you will have a real good dependable BP motor. Ned help with it just let me know.

George, I was looking at the ARC website at the billet flywheels for this INTEK. The same picture comes up for the 12hp model #28. Are they the same flywheel? They have the same weight, same price, same stock number except for the last two digits. I am going to get one for my model 28 and was just wanting to know if I would be able to use it later on the INTEK. I hope they are the same it would mean that I could use some confusing talk with my wife about how much money I was saving. Right now she has no idea how much "she don't money" I've got.

"She don't money" is... She don't know I got it, therefore she can't take it away from me. :D  :D  :D

Yes the fkywheel for the model 28 the intek and the vangard I know are the same the differennce is the center hub which you CAN buy seperatly. So with an extra 45 dollar hub you can use it on either one.
