A Good Puller???
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:35:16 pm »
Does anyone know if a 1960s Sears Surburban tractor would make a  good pulling tractor? It has a  12 hp Teckmesh motor. Thanks

The profile is set to private is what I get when I went to veiw the pictures. Also yes it would make a good puller excapt the TEC. Motor. Might want to look into getting a kohler instead of the TEC. because there are more performance parts readily availabe.

Sears Suburbans is a good choice... does it have the high/low tranny?...

I've seen a few pulling with great results... but most have been retrofitted with a K-Series Kohler..

I have a homelite t-10 with the hi - low tranny with the 5 bolt wheels and an extra set of wheels it has a 10 castiron briggs side shaft engine. It is drive shaft to a "T" style box and then to the rearend. It will pull a lot.

If your going to pull in a STOCK class it would work good but if you ever want to go bigger the belt won't hole up to it at all.......
