Did you just flip the J-spindles... What do you do to retain them...  I would think a C-clip wouldn't last very long on a bumpy track..

ZZ Mowrider,

Also intrested in your spindle setup.... So did you just flip them and then drill and tap the tops of them or how did you do this?

Russ,
You will NEED some kind of retaining system for those spindles.  The stock c-clips won't hold.  Get some shaft locks and weld them to the spindle.  They won't come off then.

It is just to much weight for those clips to hold up and one good bump and off it will come.

Looks like stock front axle flipped upside down, stock tie rod ends, stock steering gears, no support under the dash for the steering column. It don't look too safe to me!
"Superstar" Bartys runs his L-spindles upside down like that and it seems to work well for him. I never looked to see how he held them in.

yes it's the stock axle flipped over, but the whole axle is weled along the top part which was the bottom. all tack welds from the factory were rewelded and reinforced all around, stock tie rod ends will be replaceed soon, steering gears have worked well for me on 3 racers so far. Steering column will be supported also, just doing other little things right now. As for the spindles I welded the bottoms so they don't fall off.
Thanks to everyone here, I have tried to make a safe and YES a fast racer, I hope to be able to race with more people here next year. If it wasn't for you all, I wouldn't have been able to get this far, Thanks again.
here is 1 that i did the same thing to and it got me 4th in points this year.

here are a few more shots of the new build, I just need to find a Air Breather to complete the motor part.

I did have a little clunking under the flywheel, so i had to look and see what it was, bash this is what i found.
