Walbro LMT
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:57:28 am »
I just got an adjustable needle kit for EC last night. When I put it in do I have to drill out the main jet and if so how big or do any other modifications to the carb. I am guessing that if I put it in and do nothing I will see no improvement.

while we are on the subject, both of the adjustable mainjets i got leak around the needle. is this common? even with the o-ring in place. i took the needle out and put tape over the threads and put it back in, not leaking enough to be worried about now. just wondering.

Drilling and depending on which emulsion tube (brass tube you drill) it has we modify them to allow the main jet to screw in deeper. That is info I cannot give out, hope you understand.

10-4, got to keep secrets to keep money coming in. i have spare carbs and tubes so i can check them and work it out. i guess being as far out as mine is and engine vibration definately explain why mine wanted to self adjust itself during dublin race friday, and ended up dropping needle altogether. thanks.

I am guessing if you find what engine used the LMT with an adjustable main jet you could use that jet and it would be a bolt in.

carburetors are a gray area on modifications- it seems everyone keeps secrets and not a whole lot is given out freely to get the performance out of them. after getting mainjet installed and set, i dint suppose there would be any thing more that has to be done for it to work properly. i know there is more to making it perform better, but we'll let that question go un asked.

You are very correct on that. I am just trying to get my engine to quit leaning out on me for the rest of this season. Over the winter I plan to send mine out or by a new one. The tough part for me is trying to deside what is the best route to go on a reworked carb.

On carbs ou have a choice when it comes to the "Big" mods.
You either buy one of them high dollar, top secret jobs.
Or else you destroy a pile of them trying to figure out what the guys in the know are doing.

I am working on option 2, not only because I'm cheap, but I love carbs and messing them up, I mean messing with them.

By the way...any body wanna buy a highly modified carb that was perectly fine the last time it worked? :P

I plan to buy one of them high dollar, top secret jobs. I am in no way a carberator man. I think that hard part is trying to deside who to buy the carb from. There are a couple people that come to mind and I am sure all are good but, not all can be the best.
