R&T Racing post race results
« on: May 26, 2008, 01:50:12 pm »
Well hello friends and family,

Yesterday was the WILMAR Spring Opener in Fifield WI and R&T Racing was there!
This particular race was a double points double feature which means they ran one 10 lap heat (lemans start) followed by one 20 lap A Main feature (lemans start) and then one 20 lap B Main feature (rolling start) in every class. Lots to report on so grab some coffee.
The forecast was for a rainy day however when R&T arrived at the track  the sky was blue and sun shinning, it appeared as though the bad weather would miss us. Boy were we wrong!  As the day progressed the clouds rolled in and we could hear some thunder in the distance, by the time the IMOWs were hitting the track the rain had started falling.
A few more classes and now it's time for Tim to hit the track on his new R&T Racing SP with G-Team power, the rain was still falling and the track conditions were less than favorable to say the least! I think it was about the half way point in the race and the officials red flagged for a rain delay, all the SP racers rolled their machines out to the road for the Fifield Fire Dept mower wash!
We rolled Tims SP into our pit and started to take things apart and found that the carb had taken in not only water but mud as well; right through the pre filter and everything! We pulled the spark plug and found mud packed in there too. The rain was letting up and they announced the track crew was going to scrape the track and get it ready for more races. We were working hard however wouldn't have time to get Tims Sp out for the rest of the heat so we continued to clean and repair Tims Sp so he could get back out there for the feature races.
Now the heat races had resumed and now it was time for Robert to hit the track on his BP. The green flag drop and we run across the track and Robert is first off the start however the tether popped of and killed the motor, Robert gets the BP fired and back on the track to end up finishing 3rd in the heat.

Tims SP A-Main he had to start last on the grid because he did not go out and finish the heat however quickly started working his way through the pack for a 2nd place finish.

Roberts BP A-Main he had a better start than the heat and was out in second place and soon found himself running the outside groove for 5 laps right next to Chris Hilgart side by side action fighting for 1st place, at the appropriate time he was able to make his move to 1st and that is where he finished the A main.

Tims SP B-Main he immediately got out in front and proceeded to put some space between him and the rest of the pack and soon there after found himself lapping the field for a 1st place finish in the B-Main.

Roberts BP B-Main he got the jump on the green to secure his line and ended up finishing his final race of the day in 1st place.

The final result for R&T were Tim A-Main 2nd and B-Main 1st  and Robert with a A-Main 1st and B-Main 1st

Despite a little wet weather to start the races it was a great day of racing for R&T at Fifield Wisconsin.

R&T Racing would like to thank the following people.

Randy Stys, Shannon Kayhart and Chris Hilgart of the WILMRA for putting this event together.
All the track workers, tech guys, registration and the guys doing the announcing.
The Fifield Fire Dept for hosting the event.
Don Gienger and G-Team racing for the power and parts behind R&T.
Lee Vine for lending a hand at the R&T race shop.
The USLMRA for the obvious.
All the men and women who have and who continue to serve our great nation so we may have these freedoms! God bless you all!
And last but defiantly not least we would like to thank our families for with out their support and understanding of the sport of lawn mower racing R&T Racing would not be where we are today!

In closing I would like to remind all the racers when you are at an event be sure and personally thank as many track workers, volunteers ect. as for with out them our sport would not be what it is today and they can never hear enough thanks!

Take care until next time,

Thanks for the kind words R&T Racing... It's attitudes and actions like yours that make this all worth while...

Yep it was a rainy start to the season, but after the initial dump and scraping of the track I must say we had some awsome racing going on... Over thiry Mowers in 8 classes kept the track crews and officials busy but we were able to get all the racing action in and none were cancled...

Hope to see you guys in Darlington WI June 29th for our next WILMRA scheduled event!!
