Compared to the 18" tires...the 16" will give you a lower center of gravity and more stable platform to race on...

That and the smaller diameter will be easier to spin up quickly...

If you have a "fixed" gear ratio class (where everyone runs the same) the taller 18" tires will give you more speed...

The 600 has a 9:1 final in third...you want to spin that up to the "magic" 6.5:1 ratio we did with the gear box...

To do that you need to overdrive the Transaxle by about 40% to get there (38% actually)...

You can get real close with a 7" and 5" if you run straight from engine to transaxle or... if you lower chassis over T-axle and run a jackshaft you have numerous options to get there...

"IF" you are using the 7" on motor and 5" on tranny as final ratio..the both pulleys on the jackshaft should be same size...any size as long as they are the same...

Now you dont want to go to far out of the useable range here so don't use tiny (2") or huge (10") pulleys..use something in the 4.5" or 5" range...

Well I can tell you a secret, but it's not really a secret....

I've built a couple motors using pretty much all the tricks we listed in your other posts..one blew up the other runs pretty strong...

But if you really want a fast screamer..you may be better off (and money ahead) buying one from a professional motor builder...after 60-80-a couple hundred...they seem to have worked the bugs out and been able to "tweak" those last couple of elusive hp out...

You say you welded up your cam...cool...but do you have a cam grinder...? do you know what your lift and duration are... valve overlap and timing..?is it as big and bad as can possibly be fit in your block...? are there parts "in" the block that can be ground to make it even bigger...?

And machine work... can you bore and sleeve and make it bigger.. How about switching valves, cutting in a new seat and adding a 1/4" to your intake valve...??Balancing and lightning your crank...maybe increasing stroke at same time...??

Lot of this stuff is not a "secret"... just beyond the capabilities of most backyard mechanics...
