getting too much fuel on a 18 hp twin at high rpm?
« on: May 18, 2006, 11:28:20 am »
I've been told that at high rpms the fuel pump puts out too much fuel causing the engine to cut out ( flood out ? ) I was also told to put a restriction in the line. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

if you are having fuel issue's at high rpm I would look at not enough before I would believe it to be having too much. Or the float is set wrong and its dumping access into the bowl.!!!!!!! Its a vacum pump and the higher the rpm the less they pump least wise any tests we have done here on fuel pump flow

I have to agree with goerge(as usual) I dont run a flat twin, but those I race with that do say they need to add an extra (remote) fuel pump to keep up with demand. Also they turn the carb around. On short left turn only tracks the fuel slings away from the pick-up in the carb and they sputter out momentarily.Words are words, but these guys seem to have those moters figured out pretty well,Ill take there word for it.TB
