I just aquired a 12.5 briggs that runs good but the syncro balancer is shot the crank does not have the removable ecentrics. I have the lathe to remove the ecentrics but how do I get the hole for the dowel pin in the right spot or is it not that critical

let them hang down with the conecting rod journal at TDC and drill?are you looking for a press fit when you machine the crank? I was also wondering what I use for a dowel pin,or are they supplied with the weights?

We used a solid pin gun barrel drilled pressed into the hole we drilled in the crank. Worked great. And yes everything is a press fit. !!!

How far did you drill into the crank for the pin? The other thing I was wondering is would these work in the 15hp intek engine it's a model 28 something something(I don't have it in front of me)? the crank looks similar. (trying to get around the AVS stuff)

I had a bad crank we measured the depth I will look when I get home to see if I still have it. The brass weights won't work on an AVS motor. It will work on any 28 or 31 series flat or ohv-non avs motor.

It is half the thickness of the crank weight. remeber you want the pins to press fit, we used a bit of red locktight to lube it when pressing it in then it serves to help hold it once in.

I was just wondering if the crank in the model 28 motor is interchangeable between the ohv & the flathead engine why couldent you use the brass counterweights in the AVS engine. Is it because the counter weights do not clear inside the block on the AVS engine.(that can be fixed I think)
