intek cam
« on: February 02, 2008, 10:48:06 pm »
Does anybody know if the cams from precision for the intek series "44"
have the end drilled for the oil pump rod?  I have one on the way and just considered that it would.  It would be a shame to send it back as soon as it comes in for more machine work, might delay my build a little.

Thanks,

Kenny

They all have the oil pump slot. What you may run into is if it originally had the pressed on lobe type cam and you get the cast cam the boss ends need to be turned down to fit the motor. But other than that it works just fine.

40 or 44 have the slot and oil passage.
There is a Cast Iron and Light weight cam too with different ends on them.
I do both kinds.
Cast I weld up and grind down to my specs.
Light weight cams I REMOVE the pressed on junk and slide new peices on and grind to spec. Oh yeah I weld the lobes to the shaft too.
$160 gets you an Intek cam plus $10 S&H
20/60 and 60/20 with .420 lift.
Cam, heads and carb combo I do work well together.
Oh I have also built some more cam grinders so I know don't have the tear down and set up and delay with using one cam grinder.
My #1 Grinder is now dedicated to only Intek grinds!!!!
Let me know if I can help

George,
Can you put the cam on a lathe for me and turn the bosses before you ship my parts?

When you get a cam from Precision is it easy to distinguish the difference in the two type of cams? Now, I have no clue what you guys are talking about when you say, "boss ends. I will be getting, in the near future, a Precision cam for a 44 Intek. Is this something that I should talk to Mike about prior to ordering?  Thanks guys.

The "boss" is the end that goes into the block/pan.

Either measure yours and tell Mike what size or send yours in as core and you know it'll fit when It comes back...
