B&S 35HP Vangaurd
« on: October 29, 2007, 01:25:08 pm »
I was wondering if any one could give me some direction on how to build up a 35HP Van.  There is a mud motor company in UT that claims they get 60HP out of this engine.  Is this possible?  They claim most of it is bolt on: Mikuni carbs, Pro-flo heads, HD exhaust, rods, pistons and bearings.  The engines turn about 4800-4900 rpm.  Does any one have an idea if this realistic and if it is where to buy the parts and what will it cost?  Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but last time I checked if you want to have a race-legal mower, in all of the classes, the stock horsepower rating can't exceed 20 hp. Now I don't know about the off road or pulling organizations if that's what you had in mind.

Easy to believe, 60+ hp with twin from Al Hodge (vanny 20 hp. briggs) more with a little massaging.100+hp from
midwest (25-27 hp kohler) much more possible, but you have to get it to the ground for extended periods of time and keep it together.

I am trying to build this motor for a mud motor for my boat.  I joined this site because I knew people here would know how to build motors not just talk about it.  Thanks for the replies so far, lookin forward to more.

It was a man hauling booty in what looks like everglades, and jumping stumps and land, while standing up in his boat. It was an outboard lower unit, with a 35 vanny mounted on it.
