Broken belt

I final got a new set of pulleys for my mower i was riding around town yesterday and broke a belt. It set up with 1:1 pulley and carb set to run 4000rpm. it dose about 20-30mph. stoped for a second with the cluch when to take of and got no were it was broke. any idea on what to do to keep from repalcing the belt every day.

Well check belt alignement, check to make sure it wasn't rubbing something. Make sure you are using a out door grade belt not an automotive belt. Check belt tension to tight it will break. All these reasons could contibute to this.

the thing is that it bunt in two it look like i've checked evry thing that you said. I was at my friends house whet to go there was what i thought was steam( got a littel water on the engin, mudding) i now think it was smoke from belt.

Well burnt is different than broke. Look for whats not turning. Idler or such. Look for a polished belt guide may have been or jumped outside one. Theres a reason and if you look hard enough you will find it.

I got looking at it today a littel better i think i've found a problem my belt wasn't slip right with the brakes on it spun the front pully on the belt and burnt the belt(melted rubber on front pulley) gatting new belt soon and it will be an inch longer and a gates kevlar belt.

 

anything
