Getting ready to send my motor out to be bored for the 31 piston, what size gap is best for the piston to cylinder wall clearance? Thanks

Is it a cast iron bore or aluminum? It may make a difference due to the metals expanding at different rates from heat.

It's a 14 hp vanguard single, which has an iron sleeve in it. Doesn't the machine shop just bore out an fit a new iron sleeve to fit the 31 piston?

i send my piston and rings with the block when i get it bored. briggs recommends about .012 end gap or about .004 overbore.

If you build it, it should fly.
take it out and let it eat...
