« on: February 09, 2016, 12:19:48 pm »
Iv been running a 700 in cp is there and performance advantages over having a 820 with 017 gearset are they fairly the same or would there be a big torque advantage one over the other .

Being one of the few who have actually ran both, the 820 will be easier with change of pullies, vs. chains and sprockets.
The 820 is also in my opinion more effiecient at getting the power to the ground and much more durable.
I used to change/break keys in the 700 on a regular basis with a single cylinder. With the 820, that was a thing of the past.
Even with stout v-twins, they were changed once a year, only as maintenance.
Unless forced by rules or gunpoint, I would never consider using a 700 again as long as I could obtain an 820.

I agree with Ed the durability of the 820 is much better.  The 017 kit is getting very hard to find or get guys to part with.  There a little heavy in the rear of the Mower but don't get me wrong a great alternative to the 700.

The actual Peerless "017 conversion" parts have been discontinued.
There are some other lock up type options out there, or find someone who has all the parts who is willing to sell them.
