Topic: 700 peerless wont shift

Just opened my first peerless. Not that bad, now the guy that gave it to me said it would not shift. Said he only had 5th and reverse. other than being full of grease I can see nothing wrong. Any  ideas of what to look for before I tear into it???

Don't tear it down send it to me if you want a bullet proof trans people run them all season with no problems at all.   Ron 843-287 2042

Pull it apart. Check shifter keys( see if broke) once you pull the top of you can try and shift it by hand then clean the greese off so you can see what's going in. There's bunch of blow up pictures on here and under google so you can always see how it goes back together:)

Hey craftsman I cracked it open and man there's a lot grease in there. Shift keys seem to be ok I guess I'll start the cleanup tomorrow.

Bingo  Opened that puppy and lo and behold the little steel ball that fits in the detents was frozen not allowing it to shift. Cleaned her up and now ready to make race ready.
