Will a stock 28ci non avs flywheel work on a 31ci Avs engine

The original 6611 flywheel was designed for the 28 L-Head. This hub is not recommended for an AVS engine. There is an AVS hub available from ARC, P/N 6611-HAVS.

Here is the easiest way to tell, as some Non-AVS engines also can have this: Look to see if the ignition coil mounting bosses are directly in line with the cylinder or if they are canted to one side. If they are in line with the cylinder, you can safely use the existing hub. If they are canted, you need the 6611-HAVS hub.

The reason why is you will have no advance adjustment with the original 6611 hub installed on these particular OHV's, in fact you will have to bring it all the way into the minus side; and yet you will STILL be too far advanced, a bad thing for the crankshaft.
