New racer from wi
« on: July 12, 2015, 12:35:56 am »
Hey guys I have posted on here before but I figured hey I'm still new so il just start over. This is my first year racing in gp class and I finally found a good gear set I like alot. Problem is corners I don't have the pull like I use to so I had heard about a technique where you clutch it I'm the corner and floor it and drop the clutch in the apex to get that extra jump any ideas or comments on this would be awesome

That's not one of my fonder techniques, but if you have plenty of transmission parts laying around, why not!

By the use of the class name GP, I assume you ae racing with the WILMRA?
If so, I dont know what info the will give you, but I would try to pick the brain of Brandon Schug. That kid's got his GP figured out.

yes, like ed said, talk to Brandon, I raced several times against him over the years in wilmra and bsmra. he has a good gp/mx-r. I have heard of using the clutch in the corner, I have never seen it done or ever have done it myself. I would not recommend it.

I have seen it done.... and I have seen those mowers with lots of broken transmissions.

Well, you could move the seat back.
You could build a bigger chassis.
You could saw your legs off at the knee. Thats weight reduction too.
Or just deal with it.

Well I already sit about 4 inches behind the rear axle so that's a no go lol which really may hurt me when I build my single up for built single class next year. But I really don't want to start a new chasis this old girl has been on the track for 20 years lol. I was kind of thinking if I could reposition my clutch and brake I would be able stretch my legs out a bit more

A seat that far behind the rear axle can have an adverse effect at higher speeds. You really need to get that seat up front of the axle.
