OHV Single stud bridge
« on: June 09, 2015, 01:24:58 pm »
I used to have some pics I got from Tommy Daniels back a couple years ago on how to make a stud bridge but have lost them.  Anyone have any pics they are willing to share on the subject?

Does EC's rockers come with a bridge?  Hadn't paid that close attention.

Yes the EC one,s do. I bought longer bolts , then I made a plate with threads to sandwich them together.( inside to outside) Never pull the bolts out.Not the best rockers but I could afford them.

I just bolted in the EC bridge, in the stock locations, when i purchased their roller rockers.  The double valve springs i was running ripped the bridge right out of the head.  After that, i used Rocket Ron's rocker bridge and had it welded in.  No issues since

I thought you only ran the outer spring of the dual spring setup on the singles for that reason

Yes only EC outer springs with about .040-.060 shim.  Valves don't float and I've hit 6500rpm a few times . Try to keep it under 6000.

i didnt know that at the time and it didnt say that anywhere when i bought the rockers so i learned the hard way.  BUT now my head is stronger and i consistently and reliably turn 6500 rpm with the double springs

Another option is to reinforce the bolts in the external hole in the head.   I drilled a piece of flat steel that just fit into the hole.  Hold it tight and run a tap down through it installed in the head.  Use long bolts with red loctite.

I ran my FX engine 7500-7800 all the time with the EC dual springs.  Never had an issue.
