« on: April 01, 2015, 12:15:17 am »
This is a non Avs 31 block and sump, 28 crank with arc brass weights. Can I use the factory 31 piston ? Or do I need Avs 31 piston? And if yes to stock piston do I need the long or standard arc rod? Thanks for any info!!

Can I use the factory 31 piston ?

You might be able to:

1. is the piston dished?
2. which ARC rod do you have?
3. How thick are the piston rings?

The stock 31 piston has about 1/2 inch raised ring on outter edge of piston. It's raised about .040 . This is another motor for another guy in the club. Don't have the arc rod yet. Trying to figure out witch one I need. I remember reading a post on here but can't find it. Trying to save $$ if the stock piston will work.

ARC makes two different connecting rods for the OHV single. One of which is .05" longer to allow you to machine some of that dish away. The other connecting rod uses a different piston.  You will need to look on ARC's website and compare notes to see which rod you are getting, that will likely determine the rest.
