Aftermarket Denso Starter
« on: March 27, 2015, 07:59:13 pm »
I have looked in old tread but i'm looking for update info on the aftermarket Denso style starter, i know the denso is the best option i have one and its working very good with no damage to the ring gear but i'm looking at the cheap aftermarket for a backup and for a friend engine  going on a vanguard

I have bought a few stock style plastic gear starter from EMS global on eBay around 40$ and they where very good and plastic gear was as good as the stock Briggs , lasted all season , so i'm wondering if the denso style they have is any good or is there a good suplier for those cheap aftermarket ...

i know some had succes with those aftermarket and if you want to share the info please let me know

I suggest messaging tyler, he has one matched to the billet flywheels for just over 100$ (130 i think) or if you have 13:1 compression or less with the right kill switch this is by far the cheapest solution http://www.ebay.com/itm/Briggs-stratton-691564-693469-808106-STARTER-NEW-/290356892368?hash=item439a9e92d0&vxp=mtr

And ec sells a steel ring gear that works with any of them no chance of ripping those teeth off.. They can be had off ebay (starters) for 75.00 and have more torque than the OEM.

I know Tyler sell them i have talked with him a few month ago about it. i wont ask where he gets them to go buy from under him after ... the thing is shipping gets expensive since i'm in Canada and some ebay store have very good price with prepaid duty...

i have used oem and aftermarket plastic gear starter for 5 year . it took a little work to make them live but never had a issue with them . but 1 of 10 time it would lock on compression stroke if the battery was low. not very good if your ready to go on the track...

i will give them a try . i can live with a little r&d to make them work and if it destroy the ring gear i will use the steel one from ec

Give the high torque starter from EMS a try. I have used them before with no ring issues. Just double check the spacing on each engine. The aluminum ring gear will hold up fine if the starter is meshing properly and weighs considerably less than a steel gear.
