noram star clutch gearing questions
« on: March 19, 2015, 11:10:05 pm »
Ok so im running a horizontal 16 hp vanny with a two barrel and some internal work, spins about 4500 rpm,i run 8" rears and am using a 6:1 gearing
15 to 30 then 16 to 48
Im using the noram star with a 15 tooth but i ordered a new clutch and its a 16 tooth,i can use my 15 tooth drum but my main question is....will the 16 tooth drum help me more or less on the track? Its a 1/8 mile oval
or would i be better just using the 15? And also have questions about springs too

16 tooth on the drum will give a little more top end at the expense of torque out of the corner.

Well its a small big track lol so id love to have more torque so i can just get it out of the corners but top end is nice but only if its a lil bit bigger track

Ok so if im spinning about 4500 is it better to just use the stock springs that are 2500 or are the white springs that engage at 2800?

I also ordered a set of the white ones that are 2800 so those will prob work better for me,the stocks engage at idle for you? That idle seems a little high then
