90's Murray build
« on: February 13, 2015, 10:59:16 pm »
Ok, so I've stripped and cut my pan like rooster in his '09 build. Now for reinforcing the pan frame, is it really as simple as adding in tubing on the underside of the frame?  I think I want to build a stiff chassis, but not sure if that alone will get the deflection out of the pan. I will be mounting the rear axle under the frame to meet our frame height rule and using a 700. Just seems I'm missing something.

One inch angle iron down both sides stitched in x members where motor. Sits ...I use 1/8-1/4 2in stick that way motor sits flat on solid plat form

I am building this same chassis. How did yours come out? Any lessons you learned with it you could pass on?

I put it on the back burner too long, ended up starting a different build off a c channel frame.  Decided that would be stiffer and lighter than what I'd have to do to the murray frame.  If I were to do it all over again, I think I would have stuck with the pan chassis just for the fun of it.
