Oppy fuel pump mod
« on: February 01, 2015, 03:14:03 pm »
I was told by many people that I should relocate the vacuum line from the fuel pump that goes from the pump to the engine. If something would fail, all the gas from the pump would go into the engines crankcase. The gas would mix with the oil and lock the engine up. I was wondering where on the oppys intake manifold I should drill it, tap it, and install a fitting to connect the vacuum line to. I would like to know where the best spot would be. Any advice is appreciated.

I read in your other post, this is not a race mower.
We really only like to offer help to full scale race mowers.
Safety is our motto, and we do not promote driving on the road.
However, you can feel free to use the search button on the top left and find
answers to questions you may have. Probably not the
answer you were looking to get. The option always exists
for you to change your mind about building a sanctioned
race mower and get all the help you need. My average
trip to go to a race is 3.5 hours, so I can understand.

Thanks for the advice. I kinda started off on the wrong foot. I want to build a mower that would be class legal so I could take it to some tracks near me and be competitve. But I would also like to be able to drive it a little at my house. Come spring I'll finish up this track I had been building  outside of my back yard and race it on that with a few buddies. To cut to the chase, I want to go fast, be safe and have fun with it. I am planing to upgrade the rear brake and beef up the steering/front suspension. I already have a tether kill switch ready to install later on.

Beef up chassis... improve steering. and put on brakes.. then worry about the motor.

Ok. I was just wondering because I have done some chassis stuff but not a lot of engine modifications. I was just considering the vacuum line mod as a safety improvement engine wise.

put a fuel shutoff in the line from the fuel tank, that'll cover that from happening while it's setting
