Please forgive but I have been away from this for a while,…question fer yaz…
What is the major difference of an FX-T(MT) engine and a BP(Super sportsman) engine other than crankshaft orientation?
Agreed that the FX handles better and could be safer. But, It’s been my experience that, the faster you go, the harder it’s gonna hurt.
Due to increasing population and local construction, ( In the next year, Baltimore will touch Washington DC ) We no longer have the luxury of “Kart” Style clay tracks. For the most part, they are all gone with the exception of one track, who will only run once a year.
With that being said, if we want to continue to race, I have to make due with what I have been provided with. Typically our client will provide large grass field, that can be found almost anywhere.
(We had over 14 racing events this year and had the opportunity to do more than 20 - I had to turn some away) So, for the past couple years, we have had grass road courses or a very small dirt oval.(300ft to 450ft) I am not sure how well the FX-T style chassis will do on these type of tracks(We have one FX-S), so we continue to run BP’s. Sometimes we may have an option for a large grass oval but it will not be smooth. A couple of our fellow Virginia counter parts brought up some FX-T’s and ran and older 490ft paperclip dirt track we had later this year(soon to be a strip mall). They had fun but seemed to run out, never got close to their potential.
…not disputing anything here, just letting you guys know our situation and seeking advice. We have little to nothing left other than what was stated above. Although the numbers are very low, we continue to run the BP’s since they seem to be a crowd pleaser. Typically we mix the SP, CP & BP’s. All are competitive on a small grass track. CP/SP’s get traction while the more powerful BP’s just slip, slide & drift.
I like what Ed Said “They can take my over powered too tall mower tired v-twin from my cold dead fingers.” I guess I tend to agree.
Thanks for listening.
