30-35 vs 38 cube vanny valves
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:58:22 am »
Are they all the same size or are the 38 cube valves bigger and by how much? Do I get bigger valves put in my 30 heads or get 38 heads and put bigger valves in them to get mow hp and bolt them on. I've read on hear both ways??? Thanks for any advice:)

38in have +2 intake and +1,5 exhaust over the 30-35in engine
for low buck engine yon can use the 38 valve on a 30-35 head .

but if you want to make serious power you need the 38 head they are much better . you can put bigger valve if you want max hp

We used the 23 hp heads with much higher ports {they have much better flow} and used Toyota intake valves shortened with new lock grooves in the correct position ,you need larger valve seat to use them

Thanks guy's. Do the 38 heads have a larger combustion chamber so I will need to shave them even if i'm using the long rods?

They have a bigger combustion chamber, the smallest combustion chamber are the 30ci heads, if you want oversize stainless valves tyler chromwell has some not expensive either

To fit his valves or EC stainless valves require machining. Opening up seats or a reamer to size guide, reface seat. Trying to avoid expensive machine work . Would be eazyier and cheaper to put new stock valves in a 38 head and bolt on to 30 cube right? Thanks for your help. When i win the lotto i'll get some RYKER heads.

but if you dont open up the seats then it doesnt result in anything to put big valves in? your seat and port stays the same the same air will flow in, tylers valves use stock seats and stock guides plus the guids dont need to be machined. what i did was i took a 1" endmill to the exhaust side and 1.125 endmill to the intake side, making the seats larger, then i matched the ports to that new size (thats when you get more air) then cut the new seat angles, very easy i might be wrong and anyone correct me if i am... any machinist can do this i did it myseld and the vanny heads fit nice in a vice for the endills took litterally ten minutes per head shouldnt cost you much , hope this helps

Are the valves bigger than the 38 cube stock valves? The valves Tyler sells are only .080 over intake and .040 exhast. Thanks

I was getting confused there , his valves are bigger than 38 cube valves by .080 and .040. I thought he was talking about the 30-35 valves. Thanks for your help
