Jim Burk used to race one, and although I never got to look inside the crankcase, I did have some time to play with the cylinder head. I had some minor issues with trying to get the circle-square-circle of the manifold/intake port to flow, but I really have to say that the Tecumseh engineers really did know what they were doing. The valves are what Briggs engines dream of being. Might I also add that, lucky for you, Tecumseh ran a Walbro carb for a while, at least that's what I seem to remember.  George can accurately answer that question.

They both have the goods and bads. I personally prefer the Indians, as for the walbro yes but not the briggs style it was a bigger venturi and throttle bore but the way it was built made it extremely hard to mod. the platic bowl 17 ohv cvarbs are the ones to run.

This engine was built by Ed King. Its got my Carb, custom grind Isky, and Ed did a very nice job on port matching. There's only one OHV 17.5 with more HP,  and that one is still in Ed's shop.

Yeah, but you have to admit you had fun, Rooster, because it was fun for us. At least you had plenty of cold ones for us afterwards.

BTW, this engine has been re-cammed since the chicken stir fry.

Tanner, Do what ever Bert and Ed tell you to do with that engine. I Wish it was going under my hood.
