16hp enduro help

Hey guys I have a 16 hp enduro and I just pulled the motor to get it race prepped for next season it currently doesn't run for some reason prob carb but anyway my question is I noticed beside the intake is a aluminum cover and it has a hole in it perfect circle is there suppose to be a hose or rubber grommet there

That's your crankcase breather. In stock form there is a rubber tube that goes from the cover to the air filter housing. When race modified, I run a hose from it to up under the dash with a small filter on the end of the hose.

Okay that's what I had thought it may be. I'm having a heck of a time finding a rebuild kit for the carb too if anyone has some good suggestions

What are planning on doing with the engine? Race in stock form or modify?
If modifying, you will be changing the jet and emulsion tube anyhow, so a kit would just give you parts you dont need.

Well I just got a different carb today that has been used on a friends racer today got that in and all is good there. I was going to just use that engine in my currently hydro soon to be modified class mower

And yea I am not sure how long I wanna use the tecumseh anyway maybe just this next season cuz parts to build these motors are hard to find
