cam break in

What rpm should i run a 16 hp vanny that has a cheeta cam in it to break in the cam and springs and for how long

10,000 RPM for 8 seconds?  :dunno:

I used to be concerned with some of that.  Use conventional paraffin oil for 1 race.  Change oil (and oil filter if applicable) and replace with a proven synthetic oil, and drive it like it's your ex-girlfriend's.

Break an engine in at the load and shaft speed it will be normally operating, in other words.

I start them on Mobil 1.
Run them a few minutes to see if they leak.
Then, drive it like it's Bert's.

Ya ive ran it 3 times today and after everytime i shut it down i adjusted the valves,after bout 3 mins of run time they get out of adjustment a little,is that just the cam breaking in?

Maybe its overkill but m'y engines i break them in at around 2000 for around 15 min

I was just letting it idle around 1150 rpm for like 3 mins the checked the valves and oil and ran it again

I run all for 30 to 40 minutes at fast idle, reving it up a little during this time frame.  I use straight non detergent oil for this, drain when done, do about five laps getting faster each time, then go.
