Topic: Engine not throttling up

I have a huffy I'm turning into a racer well today I changed the pulleys I have a 4 1/2 on the motor and a 3 on the transmission when I'm in third gear my motor don't throttle up even though I'm holding it wide open in second gear I don't have any problems could someone please lend a helping hand and let know what I'm doing wrong thanks, Jesse

You could have to high of a pulley ratio for the motor - when the ratio is too high it will bog down or even not respond at all to the throttle, because the engine might be too small for the ratio. You can get a bigger engine, or downsize your pulleys, or you could take the governor off to get some higher RPM's

Thanks for the reply I have unhooked the governor it still bogs down but I can disengage the clutch and rev it up and let the clutch out and it does good anyway I'm running an 8hp briggs with a 4 1/2 pulley on motor and a 3 on tranny
