Head question
« on: April 05, 2014, 11:18:07 am »
Is there any difference in the CH20 and CV20 heads? It's a CH20S Spec 64510 S/N 3319007311 The engine has a bad valve guide. Also will say a CH25 Head work on this motor?

Heads for horizontal engines have oil return passage on the intake side while the vertical heads have the oil passage on the exhaust side. You can easily drill out the passage to make one work on the other.
Other than that they are same head, same valve sizes, springs. Now the 25/26/27/28/29hp versions have larger combustion chamber which will drop comp ratio on the smaller cc engines like the 16/18/19/20/22/23 if popped on.

You could fill the chambers with weld and reshape them then you only have the machine them enough to make them flat, when you get a much higher compression ratio it will blow the head gaskets, then it will need to be " O " ringed and use copper head gaskets
