Ok, so iv got a Intek 40 sitting around collecting dust and have been thinking of doing a vertical to horizontal conversion to it, I can solve all the problems except the oiling issue. Seeing as how its full pressure lube can I just route the pumps pickup to were the oil will be settled? Iv thought about putting some type of reservoir were the dipstick connects to the block so that it can hold the right amount of oil and not to much in the engine so the crank weights clear the oil level. I'm no engineer so I would love it if someone could point out the reasons why this setup wont work im sure someone has thought about doing it.

they don't make a horizontal intek that im aware of but if you are saying to make a vert intek into a horizontal oil is not the only prob you also have the carb to deal with

Hahah yea that's a typo but yea it would need a intake to fit the carb in the right position and don't forget it would need some sort of engine mount to hold it down... but what do you think of how the oiling system and how it should be modified?

Because I can find these inteks for low prices the one i have now was bought for 60 bucks and came with a mower attached to it lol also were can i find a valve keeper dropped one in the grass :/

Get billet valve retainers.   You will need them. 

As for the oiling I'd be worried about the pump drawing oil that far.  They aren't designed to pull oil, they are deigned to be submerged in oil.   I'd bypass the stock pump and use an electric oil pump.   Benefit of that is you can run oil squirters on the pistons.

Im wanting to use the ec valve setup just didnt know if it came with keepers, i was kinda shooting for a simi dry sump but if you can point me in the direction of an electric pump cheaper than a ragb i would try it that way. Do you think the pump could be mounted internally? Iv been reading on dry sump setups in the newer V Twins and they always mention the need for two pumps one of them needs to scavange or pull the oil out. Would i need to scavange if im using the origanal pickups? Thanks for your help im sure to get a lot if great ideas on this forum!

Order new valves.   You will need them if your running the dual springs.   They will come with new keepers.

As for the pump I know there are guys that are running external electric oil pumps.   Do a search on here, there is a thread that talks about it.   I wouldn't worry about a dry sump setup.   It will hold enough oil and not hit the crank.

Iv been looking at some pretty afordable pumps but have no clue as to what the spec it needs to be
All i found here was that they used cheap pumps
I found a link to a fuel pump on here but its only rated to 8 psi

I wish the pump could handle an extra 6" of line but it would also pump aginst gravity right, this is to much strain?

What are you going to use the motor for when converted?

A vertical Intek built runs good..why change it?  Run it as is...there are no problems to have to re engineer.
