Many thanks gentlemen! I will keep that in consideration.

I would think someone would make these?

Most larger engines use 1-1/8 PTO shaft. I use them to make sure the Main Drive pulley stays on in the event that the pulley set screw fails. (One Failed at Montgomery Co Fair a couple years ago resulting in a DNF that cost me many much needed points)...unless I am one of few that use them. I used the SRC's without the keyway, the work but you have to trim the key exactly, and I had one that the key actually moved up in lieu of down. I feel more comfortable clamping the keyway.

Happy Holidays and many thanks.

Don't have a source for you but why not run the key the same length as the pulley hub.   Then clamp both sides of the hub.  Without keyed locks.   That way the key can't fall out.   That is how I do all my keys.   Even on the axles.

Good Idea. Tried that but did not put a full collar on the top, it came out. Double clamping would be the way to go but it's really hard to get to the upper clamp unless I put it on before installing the engine.

Dont need a full collar thurn the collar so the key is opposite the keyway that initself will also keep key from moving. Been doin that for years also.

Good stuff here George, many thanks....will try the Silicone RTV-(Love that stuff)
The drawback is, I just went thru censored trying to get a pulley off that was on there a couple years. I thought the impact driver was going to blow or the wheel puller would snap, but it finally came off. I was contemplating putting a little anti seize mixed with waterproof grease on the shaft...that would blow the idea if using RTV......hmm, will need to think about this one.

The RTV is only in the crank groove to keep the key from sliding. Nothing to do with the pulley

Just use machinery bushings on top of the pulley. Easy to get the correct distance. Use a key the length of your pulley hub. Put a single split collar under the pulley. Steel collars are fine. Will never come apart til you remove it.

Use never seize, don't skimp.

Thnks Hollywood/Superman...we are on the same page.  definitely using never seize and RTV. Just ordered Stainless keyways -had issues with the steel one's rusting into the grove. I think we are good. Will get the new engine installed this weekend after I fab up the exhaust.
