Ron I miss back in the day when we ran open fuel. If it would pour..we could run it. Believe it or not..I had a bad reputation for my fuel. Ol Rex Crouch used to give me the devil about it. I never will forget finally getting motors with sleeves in em that you could run 35% and not gall a cylinder and piston. Those sorry Kool Bore aluminum cylinder blocks would gall if you had .010 clearance in the cylinder. Only last one or possibly two race weekends. Of course back then an entire brand new Briggs motor was not much over $50...so we would just go get another bullet for the gun. Oh those WERE the days.

I would be very interested to know what you did to it to get 30-35 HP from a model 28.  I have been around racing engines all of my life (30+ years-spent 3 years as an intern/broom pusher in a professional motorcycle racing machine shop).  In my estimation the model 28 I used in 2011 for an attempt at a National Championship in FX came no where near 35 HP, this included true roller rockers, custom induction, numerous hours of constant refinement, and even consultation/product development with true industry innovators and professionals.  I feel that I used the best materials available, if I did not I would be interested in what else is out there.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

Once, I calculated the exhaust size I would need based off the 4" fart cans you see on many 1.8 imports, and I would need a 16" exhaust for my 8.1
