16 inch tire on 8 in rim
« on: August 13, 2013, 06:45:15 PM »
Has anyone ever put a 16/7.50 on ec 4 on 4 rims, is there a 16/8.50 turf tire or is the only option Hoosiers? Any thoughts, it's for a supermod

For that Hoosier 16x8.5x8 you are going to want at least a 9 inch wide rim.  I run wider.   They flex A LOT!   On a 8" wide rim they will roll around a lot.

The EC rims aren't wide enough.   Great wheels but for that big tire you need a different rim.

Is there a 16/8.0 or 16/8.50 turf tire cause that's what I have to run according to the rules of my group

You have to run a 8" wide wheel?   Or a turf tire?

16x7.5x8. On the EC wheels work well.  I wouldn't run a wider turf tire on a 8" rim.

What power plant?

What group?    Can't run cart tires like USLMRA or ARMA?

Oh Is this the governed Supermod class?

If yes the 7.5 is plenty of tire.

Dustin you need a minimum of an 8" diameter rim, any width for rear and yes turf tires. Most run 18x9.50 - 8 on 8x9 rims. I started running 18x10.5 - 10's this year on 10x10 rims. Much stiffer and less roll and bounce. I still have a new set of the 16x7.50 Carlisle turf pros sitting on the shelf. I couldn't never get them to hook up. My used set are on the junior mower.

Crazy.  Why clubs don't follow the national rules baffles me.

I'd still run the 7.5 on the 8" rim.  I really like the Cheng shin Pro Techs I have on my BP
