Briggs 17 horse AVS
« on: January 23, 2007, 08:32:00 pm »
Hey, I have a 17 hp intek that has the AVS and had the counterbalance pin come out to do some damage.  I was wondering if I could just remove the counterbalance in this style engine and keep running without problems or do I have to have the rotating assembly balanced?  I can handle the engine shaking as long as the engine can handle it also.  I was told that this is a rather new style engine from briggs and not much is available.

The crank has to be balanced, give Don at G-Team a shout he can balance the engine for you...

The link to the .pdf file is showing the older synro balance system.  This is what the AVS engine looks like http://www.odref.com/briggsandstratton/model-31/31H700-ms5174-0803.pdf.  The AVS engine has a totally different balancer.  You really need to talk to Don at G-Team.
