Sprockets for 700 trannys
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:27:59 pm »
Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had information on where to order sprockets for a 700 transmission. I have already looked at EC and they only offer sprockets up to 18 teeth. I a looking for something around 22 - 24. Also looked through all the links and did not see anything in there. Any help would be great.

Just make your own.Use the orginal brake disc ,buy a 22 tooth sprocket or whatever you want and lathe down brake disk to fit snug into sproket and weld. Most welding and some auto parts places sell 30 or 40 pitch sprockets. The biggest sprocket i've seen on a 700 is 17 and it was ran in 3rd and went 45 mph.A 22 would be crazy fast.8" pulley motor and 5 trans.17 tooth trans to 46 axle.

I dont know why you would need that much front gear.  With 16" tires I ran a 13 tooth, with 13" tires I have ran as large as a 17 tooth.  Only reason I could think of for that much gear is not being able to get a 6-8 inch pulley on the engine and trying to make it up at the trans.  To me that would place a lot more strain on the output shaft.  Just my :twocents:
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

Why not run a smaller rear sprocket?
The bigger the sprocket on the tranny the more torque loading on an already weak piece.
I have always run between 24-30 teeth on the rear axle.
Never had issues.

If you run low on the rear disc that yiu cut down you cab use the go kart strreing adapter for the splined shaft, it has the same spline.
