Looking at a couple mowers/motors for a future B/P project...

Given the choice of these two, which has the best build up potential..??

1. 20 Vanguard..

2. 18 hp Intec...

All I have is the single cylinder manuals at present, so I don't have the specs in front of me...

intec has smore cubic inches but the vanguard has more readily available over the counter race parts. Plus its smaller and lighter in size. It is a choice you must make on your own

I've never been good with "choices".maybe I'll just get  both... :D

Actually, I have been leaning toward the Vanguard, for the reasons mentioned above...

But the Intec is in a step thru Murray chassis...maybe I will get them both... 8)

I was wondering why anyone would want the stepthru chassis for racing, to me it just seems that it would be kind of flimsy or else it would end up very heavy by the time you made it stiff enough, kind of like a convertable car. Or am I wrong and you want more flex?

Yes and No and flex depends on chassis. The walk thru is a very good chassis easy to mount if built right. All a personal preferance really. I am not sure if there is a bad chassis. Its all in the build and setup  anyways.

I agree. There is a young kid out here that found an old mower that was almost nothing but a 6hp engine, and framerails, and it wasnt the fastest out there, but the way he set it up, it would move right along! and it was about the most unconventional one I've seen!
Oh come on man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers?
No, I don't.
You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?
