So square tube bumpers like ours which have been fine in the past are no longer legal? Yet, not having one is?  confused I dont see the point of this.

Sorry tim, but yes you are correct. The square tube forms a "Step" that allows the offending tire traction to "Climb up" where a round tube does not. The thought process was that you were safer without one if you have a square one.

I would love to see tests of that.... I disagree but I'm a nobody there.

So I applaud you guys on making the 49ci motors legal because they were being run anyway,

right now the ones on the right, they are snow covered.  noplease

I cant sit back and think of where tires have climbed up square tube bumpers all year in the races that I have gone too. Not to mention, if they are designed correctly, they should be too narrow in between the horizontal pieces of bumper for a tire to get in there and climb it. So with it being round or square it shouldn't matter.

I'm so glad  rule changes  like the bumper were put out early so that those of us building new machines would have known!!! Nothing like having to redo work that's already done

so i take it that the bumper on my ss that i have been running the last 3 yrs is illegal. its square tube with rounded ends and the gap is close enough that a tire cannot get in it and climb.  Just wondering cause it was legal at the finals in PA. lastb yr. I dont mind the change it is just that i have built 3 more just like it for my other mowchines.
