i agree with marc torx bit.the torx screw driver.there 7 inches long ,hammer it in and put vise grips or channel locks on the handle for leverage.i've striped to many to count and it's worked 95% of the time..

I second that, heat is your friend.  That's how i got out the 4 of the 9 bolts on the water pump of my 81 VW Caddy that i snapped the head off of.  A little heat goes a long way

Heat up the pulley and get a wax candle. Get the pulley hot enough to draw the wax down into the threads of the set screw then get an easy out the right size to fit into the rounded out hole and enjoy a frosty cold adult beverage!

thanks for the tip...it has been sitting with penetrating oil until i get ready to try it again. i would have an adult beverage, or 2 while i wait, but then i might end up having 6 or 7, then throw the thing off the bench if it fails to come out! :omg:
