new racer from nc
« on: January 24, 2013, 10:33:31 AM »
Hey guys, trying to find groups near piedmont of north carolina to race with.  I know of groups who race at millbridge speedway and woodleaf speedway from time to time, but not sure who or when or what rules they run.  I'm wanting to run a prepared (I guess thats what you call it) mtd frame with a flathead single to start out with and I have a very large 13 year old son who wants to get involved also.  Any info about groups or tracks within 2 or 3 hours of salisbury would be greatly appreciated.  I was gonna race at ellerbe, but I'm not sure they even race there anymore????  Thanks for all your help in advance.

Ellerbe should be retrying to start, there are a few of us local boys on here. Right now( past season) we have been at mck/cyclone every other weekend. We run under soma rules. One of our biggest classes is super stock ungoverned in which we take a prepared chassis and put a flathead or ohv( which ohv are more competitive) and a billet flywheel and go at it. We run most of the soma classes. Any more info feel free to ask

Come check out Phat Bottom Speedway. We are a SOMA track too and are not that far away from you. We have a test and tune on Feb 16th.  We run 5 mower classes plus the mini late models. The only single cylinder class we run is Mod-XR....you COULD run you flatty the but OHV is a little better for that. As far as kids go we have our own kids class using a stock 6.5hp horizontal shaft engine 12/70 gearing and 6" rims are about the only rules for up 15 years old.  Here is the web site   www.phatbottomspeedway.com

Our first race at PHatbottom speedway is this Saturday at 3:00. You should come, going to be a great day. Suppose to be 70 degrees. We get a lot of fans there.
