Cyclone mini late model
« on: January 22, 2013, 06:06:37 pm »
Ok I have seen the grasscar mini late models and was doin some reaserch and found the cyclone mini late models. Has anyone heard of these, seen them, have any information about them, or could give me a link to the rule book with dementions? I am thinking about building a mix of the two. Any information would be great.

60 inch wheelbase and built using 1 inch tubing. The cyclone late model is only a mini cup car with a sheetmetal body on it. Look up Shippensburg Speedway on Google. You will find the rules there.

Why not just buy a nonsuspended mini cup. The V twin will still fit. Seen some SEVERAL years back.

My plan it to build the chassis like the cyclone but have no suspension like the grasscar and use the grasscar drivetrain because if I built it like the grasscar it woul look like the grasscar

In a rigid mini cup the seat sits in the middle of the frame, the motor (340 or 390) is behind the driver behind a fire wall, in order to do that he would have to modify it some. Plus grasscar rules says it has to be made of 1-1/4 tubin but minicup are made of 1

My plan so far on this is to put the engine and drive train in same locations as a grasscar but with the chassis of a cyclone to get the more proportioned look and all also this would center the weight better and make for better drivability

I'm going to use the 1 1/4inch tubing for the chassis so it could run with them but this new hybrid I'm tryin to build and get started in the area I live then expand
