OHV17 piston pin question
« on: November 25, 2012, 07:19:09 pm »
He everyone,
been doing some research here and wanted to know the piston pin diameter of an OHV17 engine.  The tecumseh spec sheets do not give a listing for the single, but it does give a listing for the twin in the twin manual.  The spec for the twin is .6251-.6256 for the piston pin.  A post made earlier on this site mentions to bore the twin connecting rod (billet from ARC) .050 over the current diameter to fit into the single.  So I am assuming just add .050" to the twin spec to equal the single?  It would seem to be the case.  Also, is the piston pin an interference fit to the bore in the rod?  Or does it float within the rod?  Now, if it is a floater like this, does that mean the spec given for the twin is for the bore in the piston where the pin goes through?  Or just the pin itself?  Thanks and I appreciate your input.
