craftmen ltd1000
« on: November 20, 2012, 09:16:04 am »
Well my build is going to be a craftsmen ltd1000 with a 17.5 hp motor. I picked it up for free from my friend its been sitting for 3 years. Well I got it to take its first breath of life yesterday. But I'm a little loss. I want to race it.  Legally. But I'm not sure what class I want to go for with the build. Or atleast the best one for me at this point. I want to build the mower for speed so I dnt want to run like a stock class but I know I don't want to run the fastest class out there either.  But my big question is, is the motor on this mower worth building? Does it have potential to go fast?  Its a single cylinder 17.5 briggs and stratton on a craftmen ltd1000 not for sure of year.   Let me know what you guys think! I'm new to this and the forums! Any help would go a long ways!I will add pictures tonight when I get the chance!

If it's a hydro, you will have a pedal to press to make it move or a lever you push to make it move. If it's a gear drive it will have a lever to put it in and out of gear. You will also have a clutch pedal for a gear drive.

Personally this is noit a build thread just a bunch of random pictures of an old mower. I am moving it to the picture section when it becomes a build and actual build I will consider adding to the build section.

racing out of florida, for the g/p class do you have to have the mower deck on? it makes me thing you do with the wording in the rules according to the USLMRA handbook! on top of that it says the max factory rating for the motor can only be 17, so doesnt that automaticly stop my mower from being elegable?

Alright, so I got the carberator all clean, ran new gas line with fuel filter, and sand blasted the sparkplug. It runs beautiful! Tomorow I'm going to sandblast the control panel and muffler then ill be ready to modify, but I'm still not sure what class to build for! I just need the set rules to go by so I can race it! I think ill start with the rear end! Run a solid axle! More pictures of what I've done tomorow!
