The Right Mods
« on: January 09, 2007, 07:38:50 pm »
OK guys.....I have a 14 HP OHV 280 series Briggs to use drag racing. I need to know the best bang for buck mods to make this thing a screamer. My thoughts are to go for the cam, valve springs, and carb. The flywheel weight might be a good thing for drags. I am not afraid to spend SMART dollars.

Good one Squidd....I think she is a little tired anyway. I am trying to get the chassis work done before I break open the motor. Just trying to get some good ideas from the pros. The valve springs seem awfully weak and carb has one of those electric "things" on it. Probly need to at least go for better springs/retainers, huh?

Valves, springs, retainers and pushrods..

Don at G-Team has a decent package for OHV heads and matching cam...

Does a heck of a job modding the carbs and making them adjustable too...

Yeah....I was looking at his web site. Kinda seems like he would be a good bet to get a good working "package". Is the stock carb with the electric thing the one he does the mods on?

EC also has all the parts you need. And if you remove the govenner a billet rod is cheap insurance.

Hey George.....I was wondering if I could scare you up on this one. I looked at the EC web site too and it was a bit hard to figure out. I'm up to my ears in alligators right now......trying to finish the chassis, building a new workshop, and if you'll pardon me using four letter words......WORK!!! As soon as I can get a clean spot, I'll break it open. What's the best way to contact you?

I'm thinking he should go with piston, rod, crank, port polish, titanium valve springs, head work, cam, valves
