Lift Table
« on: October 01, 2012, 11:18:00 am »
New lift table, old hospital bed and a sheet of 11ga banded with 1 1/2" angle. Works great, have about $150 invested. Still need to add a ramp.

Cool Idea. A lot less than I got in my lift table. Mine is for motorcyles so I had to modify it for four wheelers and mowers. I put 2x10s on each side held on with pipe under them. Anyway, What I'm getting at is, You can make your ramps out of 2x8 or 2x10s. Just get you some heavy duty hinges to bolt them to the table. Mine works great and you can fold them up out of the way when you aren't useing them.

Sorry I didn’t take any photos of the lift mechanism. I will look for a brand name and see if I can find more out about the bed. I do know it uses linear actuators, kind of a scissor design with 2 actuators, one pushing each direction.  Rated to lift 500 lbs so I figure it should be good for 750… Me and another guy stood on it after the steel top was on and it lifted us, he weighs 220 and I weigh…..well let’s just say more than that and the top weighs about 140.  Once it drops all the way down it is setting on 4 swivel casters so it moves real easy. All I really did was remove the mattress, side rails and a couple safety covers and then set the top on it. It’s not fastened, just setting on there. Seems very stable, raises from about 6” to 38”.

Took longer to get the shop “camera ready” than it did to build the table….lol

Oh I forgot, the top is 42" x 88"

Joerns is (or was) in Stevens Point Wi., same town I work in. They either are in the process of shutting down, or have already (can't recall which). Moving all fabrication to Mexico I believe.

Those with money could care less. All they think of is keeping it all to theselves so they move to the cheap countries. What they fail to realize is when this country folds what good will the money be. Greed will be the end of us.

It's sad as with any case...especially to realize what the final outcome is of it all and how everybody is affected in the end
