Front brake question
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:55:06 pm »
When hooking up front brakes with a Mcp master cylinder, do you just run 1 line to each caliper? Or is it more comicated than that?

You can do that and have a mechanical bias between front and rear master cylinders or run 1 line out of the master cylinder and put a flow control in that line then tee the line off to each caliper in the front.  Then run the other line out of the caster cylinder to the rear caliper and tee it before the caliper if dual piston caliper.  With putting the flow control in-line with the front you can control the flow to the front brakes slowing down their reaction time so they don't lock up and still maintain full break pressure to the rear.  That is the set-up I just put on my S/P this winter and it works really well...

Either way. I run all three brakes off one master. I got a proportioning valve and have a setup where I can completely shut off the front brakes if I want since the proportioning valve only cuts it down 57%.

Same way I do it on my FXT. So far works great. BP has a proportioning valve but way smaller front brakes and that works good also.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll try it this way and if it doesn't work I'll get a proportioning valve
