Sorry big jerm, I've been hanging out here for a while and no one has posted one. Go to youtune and type in " Jim Nicole clutch explosion" It literaly cut the dragster in half. Lots of flywheel explosions on youtube. Even done on a lwnmower scale, it will be ugly. You could tell you track person that ARMA mandates a aluminun flywheel on anything that is not governed? I think US does also, but I havn't checked.

Sorry guys/gals, but as cute as the high heels are, there out also.

i have no problem with having to have a billet flywheel, the problem i had was how about some notice, instead of a few months before race season. if your running multiple classes thats alot of money your dishing out. ha its alot of money for one.

well, its been in the rule book for the last 2 seasons and was supposed to been implemented last year but the deadline was extended for a year by ARMA and USLMRA so it is not like it snuck up on anyone this year...

i dont recall it saying in the 2011 rulebook, the start of 2012 non governed have to have billet flywheels

from the 2011 ARMA rule book
 
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE
    It is highly recommended that there be no alterations to a stock flywheel.   This is to include removing the magnets and/or removing metal from the flywheel in various locations.  Altered flywheels are not tested under any standards for safety and may not withstand high rpms.   Recognizing that other sanctioning bodies are extending their implementation date for mandatory billet flywheels, ARMA will permit drivers to continue to run their stock flywheels for the 2011 season.  By doing so, drivers assume all risks related to running said flywheel.

Thank you Wade, I deleted my copy. Folks, I realize this is a chunk of money, however the deduction on your insurance along with loss time from work (or worse) is also. This topic has been discussed for the past three years and finially made it to print. It was long overdue.

agree but where does it say starting the 2012 season? even so i'll get one. all im saying is it would have been nice to be informed at one of the races throughout the year. first tow money taken away and now billet flywheels. what happened to cheap family fun?

what happened to cheap family fun?

Not being a smarty you know what but there is cheap family fun still, you have super stock and now mod xr. I know the flywheels are a chunk of change but better than losing a body part. Hate to say it but this rule pretty much separates the men from the boys. Lol you gotta pay to play bigsmile Again finn no harm meant. Tell Howie you need a late christmas present lol

Final Decisions are made by the ARMA Board of directors & All Local Chapter Presidents that receive feedback from directly from their drivers, who give their valued thoughts and opinions.
This ruling has had 1 year ample notice. I feel that was sufficient time. Our friends at USLMRA, and ARMA, Both have this same , long overdue ruling.
