Intek/Vangaurd V twins
« on: November 28, 2006, 02:01:26 am »
What is the difference between the Intek and Vangard V twins?  I know the Intek has a longer connecting rod, but that is about all I know.  My Intek has an oil pump and filter, Vangards do too, right?
Jsut sort of curious.
Thanks
Tom

It is also the design in parts. Nothing will interchange as far as I know cept for some bolts and maybe a carb.

Gents, what is your choice of V-Twin Briggs engine for hardcore racing? and why?   I see there is a 44CID Intek out there and also some similar Vanguards.

Reliability?

Thanks, I'm just covering all my options for a possible new BP engine...

My choice in Briggs would be Vanguard hands down. What it lacks in cubic inch it makes up in less rotating wieght (smaller lighter parts) and available parts. its the most expensive of the two but it is by far the better design and the most durable. BUT I choose the indian (tecumseh) Just the cheapest motor out there if ya know where to buy it and the brute torque of the engine simply is awesome.
