The gear hubs and straight axel used on racing mowers (1" and 1 1/4" axel) are generally Kart parts anyway, so yes, the gears themselves would match...
Now there are differences between metric and american parts of course, and between a "few" mfgs...but you can generally get the 6 on 5 1/4" pattern from most dealers of cart parts..
