I used to use Kerosene (K1) because it doesn't smell as bad as diesel...but last gallon for my heater was almost $12...

Think I'll be switching to mineral spirits next change out..

I tried that the water evaporates also is realy burn your skin if it splashes on it I even wore rubber gloves. it pealed the paint off the tank. I wouldnt use it ever again, but thats just me. Scott

This can't be stated enough. A lot of mineral spirits, cleaners, parts cleaners, etc contain ingredients like Xylene and Benzene- stuff that are carcinogenic and soaks right through your skin. If you do use this stuff- wear a GOOD pair of chemical resistant gloves. I used to sell the stuff at a paint counter and after reading the MSDS sheets on this stuff you definitely want to protect yourself from it as much as possible.

I have  use this at work for the last 15 years and I now use it at home. Its a little expensive but worth the money. lasts a long time. Even more if you run it through a filter while using it.

Purple power is very strong.A lot stronger than Simple Green. I build model cars and soak them in it to remove old paint before repainting. Paint is gone after a couple days.I used some to wash a 5 horse Briggs I'm building and didn't wear my gloves.A couple hours later the skin on my left hand started feeling tight. I washed my hands in hot water with a lot of soap.Today my hand is very dry and I think it may peel. If you use it do wear gloves. Washing parts has become expensive just like everything else.
