Massey Ferguson 7
« on: March 14, 2011, 08:46:22 pm »
i would like to know if any body has ever tried making a racing mower out of one of these. Icant seem to find any engine that works well in it, and i blew the origional H70 :bash: any ideas? a good thing it has is the 3 speed transaxle( which is very heavy ) has a horizontal imput shaft so it should be easy to turn it into a racer.

That's more of a garden tractor than a riding mower. Probably going to be a little too heavy to make a racing mower. Not saying it can't be done. Perhaps others could chime in.

Try a LOT too heavy.  I would use that for a pulling mower or in the garden!  Find a smaller tractor you will be much happier with the end result.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

We have a guy in are club that has one and its fast. Runs a horizontal appossed twin. Its won a lot of points championship inthe last 5 years. He's beat my ryker's powered racer on mant ocasion. So yes it can be done.

thats pretty cool. but, im going to take the easy way out. at my junk yard there is a wrecked mower, ill put my sheetmetal on it. i think it has a v twin in it, it has peerless 700 transmission thats perfect, a live axle setup motorcycle brakes, all it needs is new rear fenders a steering wheel and a new hood. if its still there when i get my paycheck ill get it and let you guys know about it, when i seen it i should have bought it
